Eligibility Criteria for IIT BHU PG Admission 2021
M.Tech./M.Pharm. Programs
- Candidates who possess the requisite qualifications as indicated in Table 1A of Annexure - I are eligible for admission to postgraduate programs in the respective Department./Schools of the Institute leading to M.Tech./M.Pharm. Degree
- A minimum of 60% marks / 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) in the qualifying degree
- In addition, they must have qualified in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for M.Tech. Programs & Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) for M.Pharm. Program with validity not expired
PhD in Engineering
- Applicants with master’s degree in engineering in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
- Applicants with bachelor’s degree in engineering in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level
- A minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level
PhD in Pharmacy
- Applicants with master’s degree in pharmacy or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
- Applicants with bachelor’s degree in pharmacy must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level
PhD in Sciences
- Applicants with master’s degree in science in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
PhD in Humanistic Studies
- Applicants with Master’s degree in relevant subject or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree
- Applicants with Master’s degree in Science or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree
PhD in Interdisciplinary Programs
- PhD in Systems Engg: Applicants with bachelor’s and master’s degree in any branch of Engineering must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
- PhD in Industrial Mgmt: Applicants with bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering and master’s degree in any branch of engineering/management must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
- PhD in Bio-Chemical Engg/ Bio-Medical Engg/ Materials Sci & Tech: Applicants with master’s degree in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level
- PhD in Humanities & Social Sciences (English): Applicants with master’s degree in arts (English) should have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level

- Step 2 log in to fill the application form - Click here to view a sample application form.
- Step 3 Select the programme.
- Step 4 Fill in Personal Information and Upload your photograph and signature.
- Step 5 Fill in COAP Registration No. (Mandatory for Candidates who apply in M.Tech. Full-Time Regular Category).
- Step 6 Pay online the application processing fee.
- Step 7 Select the Registration Category,Programme, Department/School, Discipline/Specialization(s).
- Step 8 Fill in Details of GATE/GPAT (Mandatory for Full-Time Regular Category).
- Step 9 Fill in the academic information.
- Step 10 Fill in the work experience (Mandatory for Sponsored Candidates).
- Step 11 Fill in the referees details (Only for Ph.D. programme).
- Step 12 Fill in the publication details (Only for Ph.D. programme).

Application Fees
- General/OBC/PC Candidates - Rs.500/-
- SC/ST Candidates - Rs.250/-
Selection Procedure
M.Tech/M.Pharm Programs
- Shortlisted candidates may be selected for M.Tech/M.Pharm programs on the basis of valid GATE/GPAT Scores or a written test
- Interview or on the basis of any combination of these as declared by the individual department/school in the call letter
PhD Program
- Shortlisted candidates may be selected for Ph.D. programs on the basis of a written test and interview conducted by the department/school
- This may be done at the time of shortlisting itself
Reservations
- In each discipline, 15% of seats are reserved
- SC, 7.5% seats for ST
- 27% seats for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates
- SC/ST/OBC must also satisfy the eligibility requirements for admission
- Further, a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale) shall be admissible
